Mirrors
"Mirrors" is a piece for solo piano that juxtaposes the Locrian and Lydian modes, which are a perfect reflection of each other. The Locrian mode tends to sound very dark, since it is a minor scale with a flattened 2nd and 5th scale degree. In contrast, the Lydian mode tends to feel much brighter, since it is a major scale with a sharpened 4th scale degree. The two modes have only two notes in common; in this piece, these notes are B and E#/F.
Performed by myself at Belmont University Composition Honors Recital, 2 October 2024.Fall of the Mad Kings
"Fall of the Mad Kings," a piece for symphony orchestra, rapidly journeys through various harmonic worlds. It finds inspiration in John Williams's score for "The Empire Strikes Back" as well as lore from Fantasy Flight's flagship board game, Twilight Imperium. It chronicles the fall of the tyrannical Mahact kings at the hands of the benevolent and wise Lazax emperors. This audio is a MIDI mockup performed by NotePerformer 4.
Riddle
"Riddle" is a three-movement work for string quartet. The first movement features inquisitive harmonies and playful pizzicato strings. Movement II is characterized by a calm, breathing tempo and large runs. The final movement develops a theme by transposing it methodically through various diatonic modes. This audio is a MIDI mockup with NotePerformer 4.
Icicles
"Icicles" is a brief melodic bass project featuring bell and synth arpeggios and of course some massive saw stacks and bass fills. Produced in Logic Pro 10.

Snow Day
"Snow Day" is a piece for piano trio that explores the emotions of a child experiencing the excitement and freedom of snowfall and ensuing adventures. This audio is a MIDI mockup using Steinberg's HALion Sonic SE sounds.
